John Patrick Bray



John Patrick Bray (PhD, MFA) has written plays under grants from The National Endowment for the Arts and the Acadiana Center for the Arts in Louisiana. He has earned commissions from theatre troupes in Louisiana, Minnesota, and New York. His full-length plays include Friendly’s Fire (Barter Theatre in VA), Liner Notes (Planet Connections Festivity in NYC), Erik: A Play About a Puppet (FRIGID New York in NYC), Trickster at the Gate (At Hand Theatre, NYC), Christmas in the Airwaves (Lyric Arts Theatre, Minnesota), Dead Movement (Classic City Fringe Festival, Athens GA) and Donkey (Rose of Athens, GA). His short plays have been produced with troupes and in festivals around the country and in Canada, including Academy Theatre’s “Tapas” and GOOD Works Theatre Festival in Atlanta; and the Samuel French OOB Festival, Strawberry One-Act Festival, FRIGID NY, and Planet Connections Theatre Festivity in NYC. His plays are published with Next Stage Press, Original Works Publishing, JACPublishing, Heartland Plays; and in anthologies published by Applause, Smith and Kraus, and The Riant Theatre. A collections of his shorts, titled Cart Before the Horse, is published with Polychoron Press. Bray developed his play Liner Notes into an indie feature with Gregory Bray; it is now available on Amazon Prime (VOD). Also a scholar, Bray teaches at the University of Georgia.
